Day 2

Crazy weather in the 518!!  But I didn't let the storms get in the way of a fun and productive day!  I started my day out by taking my boys and Cassie to the beach.  My dad met us there which was a nice bonus!!  Moreau Lake is an awesome place to bring the boys, and we are there a couple of times a week.  It was beautiful morning; we played on the playground, swam, built castles, dug holes and rivers, had a picnic, and were home before the storms started!  Now, I really don't like thunderstorms...especially when they interrupt my plans for grilling!!  Not to be outdone by some rain, I grilled with an umbrella in between storms!!  When things started to clear up, I was able to go for a 3.2 mile run. All in all, a great day!!

Yesterday I mentioned that I was tracking the food that I eat.  By using a website such as sparkpeople.com.  I can enter foods that I eat and they calculate everything for me.  Here is what I had today.

168 oz of water (filled up my water bottle 7 times)

breakfast: 131 calories (22 carbs, 0 fat, 11 protein)
16 oz regular coffee with 0.2 cups skim milk
yoplait greek yogurt (coconut)

lunch: 287 calories (22 carbs, 13 fat, 20 protein)
2 rice cakes with 1 tablespoon of creamy PB
Omelet with 2 egg whites and 1 egg and 0.25 cups chopped green pepper

dinner: 400 calories (50 carbs, 8 fat, 33 protein)
grilled BBQ chicken (boneless skinless, half of a breast, with 1 tablespoon BBQ sauce)
roasted potatoes (0.5 cup)
half ear of corn on the cob
0.5 cup green beans
0.5 tablespoon EVOO

Snacks: 173 calories (32 carbs, 4 fat, 2 protein)
Small empire apple
9 baby carrots
1- 2" diameter homemade PB cookie

Grand total of 991 calories (126 carbs, 25 fat, 66 protein).  The website give a target range for total calories as well as for carbs, fats, and protein.  I am about 200-600 calories shy of the target zone.  This is nice for 830 at night.  This is usually when I snack, so if I going to, I can make a healthy decision that keeps me in the target zone.  OR, I can just drink another glass of water, do a little exercise that I saw on pinterest.com (more on that tomorrow!), and go to bed!!

Here is the thing.  It took me longer to type that up in this post than it did to put on the website.  Now I know what I had to eat and what else I can eat should I want to.  I find it beneficial to do while eating breakfast.  That way I know what I am going to eat and it takes the decision process away when I am really hungry.  It is also a way to trick myself.  For example, I just had lunch an hour ago, and I am "hungry" again.  If I can convince myself to hold out for another hour I can have one of my snacks and then I only have X hours until dinner!  During these first weeks, it is almost like I am ruled by what I can eat and when, but I am just re-training my body to be healthy!

Here is to another great day!  Looking forward to another one tomorrow!!  Sending positive thoughts your way...send them on back to me too!!!

xoxo Becky
